Diagonal Wire Ties

Thomas Panels and Profiles Diagonal Wire Ties are designed to provide additional stability and alignment within roof and wall cladding systems used on industrial and commercial buildings.

Acting as tension-only bracing members, they support purlins and cladding rails by controlling movement, improving structural performance, and maintaining accurate geometry across the building envelope.

MAIN FEATURES

MAIN FEATURES

Our diagonal wire tie assemblies are supplied pre-assembled for fast and straightforward installation. Each system includes two purpose-designed brackets, a high-tensile Bowden cable, and an adjustable threaded tension ferrule, allowing installers to fine-tune the cable tension on site. This adjustment enables the supporting sections to be set perfectly square and correctly supported, ensuring consistent alignment throughout the structure.

Key Functions in Roof and Wall Applications

Cladding rails and roof purlins can deflect under their own weight or the imposed loads from cladding materials. Diagonal wire ties act as tension restraints, limiting sagging and helping maintain straight, level runs across roof and wall elevations.

Diagonal ties assist in transferring loads back into the primary structural frame, such as columns or eaves beams. By redistributing forces caused by wind pressure, uplift, or cladding weight, the system helps improve overall stability and reduces stress concentrations within secondary steelwork.

Under eccentric loading conditions, rails and purlins can be prone to rotation or twist. Diagonal wire ties provide additional lateral and torsional restraint, helping to prevent movement that could otherwise affect cladding performance, joint integrity, or weatherproofing.

Designed to integrate with Thomas Panels and Profiles structural section accessories, diagonal wire ties offer a practical and efficient method of enhancing system rigidity while maintaining ease of installation. Their pre-assembled design reduces site labour while ensuring reliable, repeatable support across a wide range of roofing and wall cladding applications.
